Identifying revenue opportunities from value-add, export and niche markets

AgriFutures invests to develop the productivity and profitability of 27 unique Australian industries from the very mature (chicken meat) to those just establishing (Native Bees and Native Grains). In addition, AgriFutures looks to the future in many of Australia’s other established agricultural sectors, and takes a leadership role to identify opportunity and innovation. While much of the investment is focused on overcoming key challenges and issues, the future of these industries is also connected to how they can utilise all products and by-products, particularly in a competitive and sustainability focused world market.

This investigative project aims to map Australia’s existing and developing industries to identify value-add, export and niche market opportunities where additional value can be extracted. Each potential opportunity identified needs to be mapped against current and future social, economic and environmental expectations of the markets and communities.

The best sources of initial knowledge on and around an industry are those directly in it. Colere will undertake a series of facilitated “Future-Scoping” workshops, to collect views from across the value chains of each industry, with particular focus on their experiences and needs.

Utilising a range of tried and tested models and processes, Colere move through a cycle of ideation, evaluation and consultation to short list concepts for each industry. We will utilise a range of technical experts from fields such as industrial, chemistry, food processing and sustainable supply chains to both add ideas and assess concepts.
