26 Seasons: Controlled Environment Agriculture leader in plant yield for commercial viability - Series A investment opportunity

Opportunity for

  • Investors - including HNW, Angels, Family Offices, VCs, and other strategic investors

Opportunity description

Industry challenge

Climate change and food security concerns are changing the way the world produces food. Indoor farming makes food production resilient to changes in climate, whether that is rising temperatures (strawberries do not fruit over 26 degrees), or more catastrophic weather events destroying crops. Countries around the world are onshoring food supply chains to ensure there is enough food for their rising populations. Many of these places do not have enough arable land for outdoor crops.

Current opportunity

The last few years have been hard for vertical farms with rising energy costs and a changing investment focus to more profitable businesses. By being plant centric, 26 Seasons is the world leader in strawberry yields within a vertical farm, at more than double our competitors. Combined with considerably lower CAPEX requirements, our farms target a 3-year payback period, rather than decades.

It is time for us to scale this technology around the world, and we are seeking investment to do that.

Opportunity background

We currently have a commercial facility in New Zealand that is supplying the domestic market. We started operating in 2017 and have worked through various different pilot stages to get to our current scale. Through this, we have developed the IP and knowledge to licence the grow system to third parties, minimising the amount of capital required to scale. We are in discussions with a number of parties around the world and aim to have an agreement signed before the end of 2024.

Potential other applications

Our technology can be applied to many different crops, and we are currently working on what comes next after strawberries. The issue most other vertical farms have is an inability to make it commercially viable. Our low CAPEX system means that payback periods are measured in months, rather than decades. This increases the number of crops that can be grown profitably.
